STEAM Lab (Spring)
8 Weeks, Thursdays 4:30 – 5:30 pm
April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13
Grades 3 – 5
In STEAM Lab we explore concepts in engineering, circuits, and even simple robotics. This session we’re going to use paper as our theme, creating 3D paper shapes, building bridges, geodesic domes and automatons. Part of our ethos at MKR LAB is that we love readily available resources and components and like to use them in new or unusual ways. With paper engineering, kids can continue to work and explore with materials you likely have at home or can easily find.
This class encompasses skills needed for the physical design process. Add on a coding class like Scratch and students will be able to fully engage in physical computing, creating more complex robots, eTextiles, machines, interactive games and products not yet imagined.
*We understand that children grow and mature at different rates. If your 2nd grader is interested in this class and has the following skills, this class is appropriate:
- Bend/unbend a paperclip and create a shape
- Use rubber bands
- Tie shoelaces
